Thatcher flattery

27 02 2009

I caught a glimpse last night of a TV drama based on the behind the scenes goings on in government as Margaret Thatcher came to power. An interesting concept, but made totally implausible to me as Thatch herself was played by the beautiful Lindsay Duncan. How utterly unbelievable that made it for me – I just couldn’t take any of it seriously.

Now if she had been played by an out of work, ageing, donkey’s arse, I could have stuck it out until the end.

Totally agree. Who are these blind casting directors? I just watched ‘W’, Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice??? Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush!!! Jesus H Christ! I know that dramatically speaking they don’t have to look exactly like the real person but has anyone SEEN Laura Bush! I just hope that the upcoming “Hitler – This time it’s War!” with Justin Timberlake in the Hitler role and George Clooney as Churchill will get us back on track.

That is just genius – I’m on the phone to old Timbers and the Cloonster as I type. That is gonna be one blockbuster! I’m seeing Johhny Depp as Hermann Göring…

Perfect, he’s a dead ringer, I could never watch Pirates of the Caribbean because all I could ever picture was the leader of the Luftwaffe sword fighting and talking like Keith Richards. You are a visionary!!
Cate Blanchett could do the Dylan thing again in the role of Himmler. I feel financially secure for some time with this.
